In our previous post we gave you a look into the product photography side of the business. It’s usually the book that gets the least recognition, but it’s what usually takes up most of our time.
A lot of people overlook the level production that goes into a simple product shot. Everyday you see shots of food or electronics on billboards, in markets, on posters and you never really stop to think how much work went into making that product look so perfect. Next time you see a Mcdonald’s billboard, try to imagine what they had to do to make sure each bun had the perfect amount of sesame seeds, and how they colored the vegetables to look like they are perfectly picked, and what they sprayed on the meat to make it look that juicy.
Here is a quick look into our week of Product shoots.

The new season of Oliver Peoples and Paul Smith have arrived. For those people who have big faces, like me, OP and PS have finally catered to the facially challenged. We no longer have to stretch them flat to wear them. You’re going to want to see their new styles, so stay tuned.

Just one of the lighting setups for the shoot. With the amount of attention to detail and lighting we put into each shot, this project took almost all week to finish.

That is why watching movies while I shoot keep me sane. Somehow watching a movie helps me from losing my mind when I’m trying to catch a reflection off a logo the size of a flea.

Here is a little preview at a product that is set to launch in the next couple months.
Jerboa makes these portable, lightweight speakers that you can take anywhere. They plug into a USB or into any earphone jack, so they can be used with your ipod, laptop or blackberry. They sound great and they are super easy to use. Make sure to look for Jerboa soon. You’re going to want one of these for your ipad.

Check out the other colorways.
We will be having a TST give away, so stay tuned and see how you can get your hands on one of these speakers.

Meet Josh. He is the man behind the speakers and these things…

CoCoBBQ.

They are disposable bbq’s that are made of aluminum and are 100% recyclable. These things last for over 3 hours and are super easy to use, so they are perfect for camping, tailgaiting, or just a quick grill for dinner. It’s a genius product… make sure to try one out soon.

The set.

Our shoot turned into a little bbq on the roof. I don’t think anyone was complaining.
We fed 7 people steaks, burgers, chicken, ribs and much more in a matter of minutes. That’s amazing.
Here is a quick outtake from the shoot.
Shot with 2 strobe lights and fill. No ambient sun light.

Another video project in the works… this time with My Ninja Clothing. If you ever wondered what My Ninja is all about, this is the video that will lay it out for you. Stay tuned for trailers and release dates.
We are bringing the 90’s back for this one. There was something about that era’s style that translated the branding so well. We saw it in CK ads, Gap ads, even United colors of Benetton… they were simple, direct, stylish and beautifully shot. Hope we came close to getting the right vibe. You’ll have to wait and see.
Here are a couple stills from the footage.

Thank you to everyone who came out for the shoot. We had a great time!
There is nothing I love more than walking the streets of downtown in the early morning.

Omar and Sung

Today we teamed up with the gentlemen of Clae to see, feel, and experience the city. We look forward to showing you what we found. Stay tuned.

We had a quick shoot with the ladies of Denim of Virtue. Elizabeth has been working hard to deal with DofV showing at Project and releasing a new line at Magic. Seems like a lot, but they definitely make it look easy. Make sure to keep an eye out for them next month in Vegas.

Can’t show the line yet, but previews coming soon.
Stay tuned.
We made our way down the Oliver Peoples / Mosley Tribes office to meet with Michelle and Patrick to go over some new projects we have in the works. As we sat in the show room, we found a few new product books that we contributed to.

If you didn’t know this already… aside from shooting lifestyle, fashion and advertising, product photography is a huge part of what we do. Whether it be apparel, accessories, environments, jewelery or electronics, we spend a lot of time going back to basics and building new lighting schemes to make sure all our product is on point.

The Social Trust portfolio site is in the process of being updated, so please keep an eye out for new images in all fashion, advertising and product links.
Sometimes, this is the best part of the job… especially when the art director or graphic artist is on point. It’s always great when your photography is in good hands.
We had the opportunity to work with Patrick Wright again for Mosley Tribes and Jarred Eberhardt for Royal Elastics.
They are two of the best in the industry. They know what they want and they know how to work with others to get it done. As a photographer, there is nothing better than working with an art director who gives you the liberty to be creative.
Here is a quick look at two of our favorite projects of this year.

Last day of photography… now for the hard part.

Kevin (Director)

This heat sucks, by the way.

Very nice to finally meet Miss Linda Lovemade.

This project will be released in a couple weeks, so stay tuned.
Our good friend Danny Cho stopped by the other day to film a quick sample of his rants on racism for a possible pilot. This man is in high demand… I think you will be seeing him more often on T.V., movies, online and on the comedy club circuit. All the hard work does pay off everyone, so make sure to stick with it. Just make sure to be smart and original… please.

We made a drive down to the Sole Tech headquarters this afternoon to meet with Danny (ES / Lovewright) and Rob (Etnies Plus). Their collaboration is gaining a lot of momentum and is set to be released this October, so there is a lot of prep to be done in the meantime. If you haven’t checked out the preview yet…

Expect to see more TST projects with Lovewright and ES.
